Boots pharmacy reopens after Volkswagen crashed into storefront

A Boots pharmacy in Liverpool was closed temporarily after a car crashed into its storefront, the local police force has said.

The store was “back open as normal” two days after the incident

Police received a report on Thursday (December 7) just after 2pm that a black Volkswagen Tiguan had “collided with the front of a shop” on Montrose Way, Merseyside Police told C+D.

The police confirmed that the vehicle “collided with three other cars” before crashing into the storefront but that no injuries were reported in the aftermath of the crash.

Emergency services tended to the scene shortly after the incident, it said.

Boots confirmed to C+D that the Liverpool Boots branch, located at Edge Lane Retail Park in Montrose Way, closed following the incident but reopened on Saturday (December 9).

A spokesperson for the multiple said that the store is now “back open as normal” and that it continues to “support team members and customers however [it] can”.

Merseyside Police said that “witness and CCTV enquiries” were being carried out “in the area” but that no arrests have been made.

The police stressed that anyone with any information regarding the crash should contact the force on X – formerly Twitter - at @MerPolCC using log 465 of Thursday December7.

In August last year, a Well Pharmacy branch in Scotland managed to reopen less than two days after a car crashed into its shopfront, causing “significant damage”.

And a similar incident in 2022 saw a Boots pharmacy in Northamptonshire forced to close temporarily after a Porsche crashed into the branch’s entrance.
