BREAKING: Boots and PDA agree 4% pharmacist uplift in 2024 pay deal

Boots pharmacists can expect a 4% uplift in pay, while pharmacist store managers and long-time pharmacist workers will see new minimum pay rates, the PDA has announced.

Boots and the Pharmacists’ Defence Association (PDA) have agreed a 4% pay rise for eligible pharmacists working at the UK’s largest multiple under 2024 pay talks effective from November 1, the trade union announced today (October 3).

The PDA also announced that qualified pharmacists who have worked at Boots for more than ten years will now be paid at least £53,000 per year on a full-time equivalent (FTE) basis and pharmacist store managers can expect their minimum salaries to start at £55,000 FTE per annum.

The honorarium payment given to pharmacists that support trainee pharmacists has been boosted by £500 to a £1,500 non-consolidated payment, applying after the trainee's "52 week sign off has been undertaken", it said.

According to the PDA, the total pay award amounts to a 5% rise in Boots' "investment in payroll" across the union's bargaining unit.

The pay uplift "recognises the unique role of the pharmacists within the community pharmacy sector and the business", it added.
