Christie & Co today (July 12) said that North Meols Pharmacy Limited has instructed it to sell 10 pharmacies operating across the North West of England and North Wales.

 

The group’s 10 standard-hours pharmacies are “operated on a fully managed basis” and “boast strong historical performances”, dispensing on average more than 10,000 items per month.

 

More than 80% of the estate achieves dispensing volumes “significantly ahead of the industry average in England”, it added.

North Meols Pharmacy Limited started from a single pharmacy acquisition in 2009 but “has grown through a series of acquisitions over the last 13 years to its current portfolio size”, Christie & Co said.

 

The pharmacies are located in “clusters” across Southport, Wirral and North Wales and “all occupy well-established community settings” such as two integrated GP sites, it added.

 

“Having successfully operated the pharmacies and built the group over the last 13 years, North Meols Pharmacy Limited is now looking to sell the businesses to concentrate fully on its community pharmacy business in Northern Ireland”, the broker said.

Christie & Co director of medical Jon Booth, who is handling the sale, said that the broker is “delighted” to offer the 10 pharmacies for sale.

 

“This is one of the best small pharmacy estates in the North West”, he said, adding that the group “represents fantastic opportunities for a range of buyers both large and small”.

 

The sales will be conducted by way of share sales in the main, with interest invited on a group, subgroup or individual basis, Christie & Co said.

It comes as the broker announced earlier this week that a pharmacy in south-east London has been bought for an undisclosed price by an “expanding local operator” with plans to expand clinical service provision.

 

And the Right Medicine Pharmacy group this week revealed that it has picked up six former Lloydspharmacy branches across Scotland.
