Revealed: Locations of Lloydspharmacy branches bought by Rowlands

Rowlands has confirmed the locations of all 30 Lloydspharmacy branches that it has acquired, C+D can reveal. Find out their locations.

Rowlands' portfolio in Scotland has now expanded to over 70 pharmacies

The multiple revealed last week (May 24) that it has acquired 30 Lloydspharmacy branches in Scotland in what it called a "significant investment in growing our network north of the border".

Rowlands said it was "delighted" that the chain's portfolio in Scotland had "expanded significantly" to over 70 pharmacies thanks to the addition of the 30 branches "formerly operated by Lloydspharmacy".

Now C+D can exclusively reveal where all 30 of the branches are located.

Rowlands told C+D on Thursday (May 25) that the branches are located at:

Rowlands confirmed to C+D last week that staff transferring to the multiple under the deal will be subject to TUPE regulations, which protect employees' rights when companies change hands.

At the time, a Lloydspharmacy spokesperson reiterated to C+D that it is "selectively selling" some of its branches as part of a review of its estate.

They said that the multiple is "pleased" that employees from the affected branches will be joining the Numark "family" and stressed that patients will not see a "change in the way they use their local pharmacy".

Lloydspharmacy latest

It comes as C+D exclusively revealed last week (May 26) that Lloydspharmacy CEO Kevin Birch has “stepped back from his operational role” at the multiple.

Meanwhile, independent pharmacy chains Davidson's Chemists and Kamsons Pharmacy have recently announced their acquisitions of five Lloydspharmacy branches apiece.

Last week, the Pharmacists’ Defence Association (PDA) issued advice to its members following claims that some Lloydspharmacy branches are being sold in a two-part share sale process.

And earlier this month (May 15), C+D reported that Lloydspharmacy had decided to formally reject a claim for enhanced redundancy benefits in the latest stage of its dispute with former Sainsbury’s staff.

It follows the multiple’s announcement earlier this year (January 17), revealed exclusively by C+D, that it will withdraw pharmacy services from all Sainsbury’s supermarkets over the course of this year.

Lloydspharmacy initially told C+D that whether stores would close or be sold would be determined on a “branch-by-branch basis”.

But last week (May 22), C+D reported that Lloydspharmacy had confirmed the locations of six of its branches in Sainsbury's supermarkets that are due to close, as well as the closure dates.
