Former community pharmacist appointed RPS Scotland director
Laura Wilson has been appointed as the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s (RPS) director for Scotland, it has announced.
A former community pharmacist, she is currently policy and practice lead for RPS Scotland.
Ms Wilson will take up the new post next week (January 23), the RPS said today (January 16).
She will join a team of RPS country directors, including director for Wales Elen Jones and director for England James Davies, and will report to the chief executive.
Ms Wilson said: “I am delighted to be appointed director for Scotland having worked as part of the RPS Scotland team as the policy and practice lead.
“It will be an honour to continue the fantastic work started by former director Clare Morrison to bring Pharmacy 2030, our vision for pharmacy in Scotland in the future, to life and supporting pharmacy teams to deliver person centred care.”
She added: "With exciting times ahead for pharmacy, it will be an honour to continue to work with board members, staff, stakeholders, and members to deliver the vision and mission of RPS and ensure a vibrant future for the pharmacy profession in Scotland.”

“Drive and passion for pharmacy”
RPS CEO Paul Bennett said Ms Wilson’s appointment is “especially pleasing to announce as she will be known by many” in her previous RPS Scotland role where she has made “a significant impact on the pharmacy policy landscape”.
She will also be “well-known to many across Scotland for her drive and passion for pharmacy”, having held various roles across the sector, he added.
Ms Wilson has worked in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde as advanced pharmacist in addictions, as a teacher practitioner at Strathclyde University and as a hospital pharmacist, as well as in community pharmacy.
“Laura has extensive clinical experience across multiple sectors, as well as experience of developing and writing pharmacy policy to the benefit of our members and the public,” Scottish Pharmacy Board chair Andrew Carruthers said.
“Having worked very closely with Laura in her current role, I know that she has the passion and knowledge to continue to drive improvements in pharmacy practice across Scotland and Great Britain,” he added.
"I am delighted that Laura has been successful in her appointment,” he said.
