The group has bought Lossiemouth Pharmacy in Lossiemouth, Morayshire – the only independently-owned pharmacy in the town, broker Christie & Co announced yesterday (November 9).

 

The pharmacy had not changed hand in two decades and was owned by John Ross Chemists from 2002.

 

It dispenses 4,200 items a month and was sold to Right Medicine Pharmacy for an undisclosed sum.

 

Mike Embrey, director and superintendent at Right Medicine Pharmacy, said the newly acquired branch is “a great fit for our business”.

 

He added that the pharmacy “came with a well-established and enthusiastic support team that will help to embrace new pharmacy services and grow the business with their new pharmacy manager”.

 

“We look forward to serving the patients of Lossiemouth and surrounding areas for the next 20 years,” Mr Embrey said.

 

 

Plans for further expansion

 

 

Right Medicine Pharmacy CEO Richard Stephenson told C+D today that the group plans to retain and expand the existing team at Lossiemouth Pharmacy “to better support the local community”.

 

“Our plans remain to continue to acquire new pharmacies when the right opportunity presents,” he added.

Christie & Co director Karl Clezy said that “a list” of first-time buyers were among the “several parties” who expressed interest in the branch.

“This was a quick sale where we agreed a deal after only one week on the market,” he added.
