‘Variety is the spice of life’: pharmacist Paul Summerfield on his career

Pharmacist Paul Summerfield tells C+D about how he has made his career rewarding and varied

Pharmacist Paul Summerfield
Mr Summerfield: Pharmacists should not rely on just one sector of pharmacy for their source of income

Speaking to C+D at the Pharmacy Show in Birmingham in October, locum pharmacist Paul Summerfield shared his thoughts about combining a degree in law with his career as a pharmacist.

Mr Summerfield initially quenched his thirst for legal knowledge by embarking upon law degrees, which eventually led him to establish the Pharmaceutical Defence – a company that offers legal advice to pharmacists and other healthcare professionals.

However, that is not the only side hustle that Mr Summerfield is busy with at present. He is also a visiting lecturer at the University of Reading and sits on the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s English Pharmacy board.
