Alliance Healthcare promotes Marie Evans to MD to replace Julian Mount
Alliance Healthcare has announced that Marie Evans has been promoted to managing director, as Julian Mount steps down from the position after five years in the role.
Mr Mount will remain with Alliance Healthcare as an executive advisor, the wholesaler announced yesterday (December 7).
Ms Evans was previously working as Alliance Healthcare’s commercial and category director. As managing director, she will report to senior vice president and managing director of international wholesale Juan Guerra.
Mr Guerra said that “her experience and leadership will be key as we continue to evolve our services in response to the changing needs of pharmacy, the health service, and industry”.
Ms Evans’s appointment comes at a “critical time”, he added, as “[t]he last 18 months have shown just how important wholesale and distribution is to the NHS”.
Mr Mount “transformed relations with government”
Mr Mount will initially support Ms Evans in her new role.
During his time at Alliance Healthcare, Mr Mount “transformed [its] relations with upstream and downstream customers and the UK government” and established the company’s digital platform, Mr Guerra said.
“I thank Julian for his commitment and contribution and wish him well,” he added.
Previously Walgreens Boots Alliance’s wholesaling arm, in June, Alliance Healthcare was sold to AmerisourceBergen for £4.43 billion ($6.275bn) in cash in a majority share sale.
However, it was confirmed at the time that Alliance Healthcare would remain Boots' distribution partner until 2031.
