VIDEO: AIMp CEO Leyla Hannbeck shares her views on pharmacy supervision

Following revived talks on modernising pharmacy supervision, C+D reporter Eliza Loukou interviewed the Association of Independent Multiple pharmacies (AIMp) CEO Leyla Hannbeck to get a flavour of what she'd like to bring to the discussion on behalf of her members.

Pharmacy bodies announced in May this year that they had formed a cross-sector group to “refresh” discussions around changes to supervision in pharmacy.

Dr Hannbeck has stressed that remote supervision will not be the focal point of the new discussions, as the cross-sector group hopes to make the "pharmacist presence in the pharmacy more, not less, visible to patients".

So what does Dr Hannbeck hope to achieve through the current discussions?

C+D reporter Eliza Loukou interviewed her at the Pharmacy Show in Birmingham last month in a bid to address some pressing questions. Find out what Dr Hannbeck had to say by watching the video below or via this link.

Join C+D's next Big Debate on November 16, 7-8pm, to discuss how pharmacy supervision can be modernised without compromising patient safety.

Community pharmacy is risk adverse, considered, and dare I say it, conservative. But, when it comes to the survival of pharmacy, we can’t afford to let the fear of change – or those resistant to it - hold us back.
