The pharmacy officially launched its service in Birmingham on July 26, following a successful launch in London, where its on-demand service first became available at the end of 2019.
Anyone within a 10-mile radius in all directions from Phlo’s new hub can sign up for same-day deliveries, a spokesperson told C+D last week (July 26).
Patients can use the postcode checker on the company’s website to find out if the service is running in their area, they added.
Those who live outside the area covered by the hub can opt for Phlo’s national mail order service, providing 24 and 48-hour delivery across the UK, the company said.
Benefits of digital healthcare
Phlo’s chief pharmacy officer Naila Dad said the company is proud to offer a pharmacy experience combining technology and “outstanding patient care”.
“Increasingly more patients are realising the benefits and convenience of managing their healthcare digitally, as highlighted by the recent pandemic,” Ms Dad said in a statement.
The new launch in Birmingham is a way to engage with the community, according to Phlo founder and CEO Nadeem Sarwar.
"Our pharmacy is based in the heart of Birmingham, employing local pharmacy staff and courier drivers,” Mr Sarwar said.
“We look forward to engaging with the people of Birmingham, ensuring that our service makes their lives easier by removing the hassle and stress of managing their prescriptions,” he added.
Phlo plans on expanding to more cities in England over the next year.
How does Phlo’s same-day delivery work?
Patients can order and manage their medication through Phlo’s website or mobile apps.
Prescriptions, including controlled drugs and fridge items, are sent directly from GPs to Phlo via the electronic prescription service, with patients receiving them in under four hours.
Phlo’s patients can select a time slot that best suits them. Phlo’s service is fully trackable on a live map, which people can access on their phones, computers, or tablets to keep an eye on their medication delivery.
As C+D reported last year, Phlo hit its crowdfunding target of £1.65 million within a day of launching its campaign, which it launched to fund its expansion plans.
