The Lincolnshire Co-operative has unveiled the blueprint for its healthy living pharmacies (HLPs) with a £100,000 refit of its Cabourne Avenue branch in Lincoln.
The store's overhaul is the first to be carried out as part of a pilot, which includes another branch getting a refit in September.

If the trial pharamcies prove a success, Lincolnshire Co-operative plans to roll the format out to its 47 pharmacies in the region. The new-look store fit has condensed toiletry and OTC medicine displays, making way for larger private consultation rooms, information areas and customer seating. Other improvements include poster and leaflet displays along with a touchscreen that enables customers to check the status of their health and look up information and advice on health problems. |
Lincolnshire Co-op's Cabourne Avenue pharmacy will also offer free blood pressure, blood glucose and body mass index tests in a move towards the healthy living scheme.
Lincolnshire Co-op's head of pharmacy Alastair Farquhar said: "Of course dispensing prescriptions will still remain the pharmacy's key function. But the old adage that ‘prevention is better than cure' will increasingly point the way forward as this new format gradually rolls out across Lincolnshire Co-op's pharmacy network," he added.
