Co-operative hospital outpatient dispensary ‘up and running’
Business Co-operative pharmacy's latest outpatient dispensary has garnered positive feedback at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.
The Co-operative Pharmacy has officially opened its latest outpatient dispensary at the Huddersfield Royal Infirmary after being awarded a seven-year contract in March.
The dispensary is situated at the main entrance to the hospital and, after running for a month, has received positive feedback. "We are really pleased that the new pharmacy is now up and running," said Mike Culshaw, clinical director of pharmacy at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust. Mr Culshaw said the pharmacy would be "of huge benefit" to patients and staff and that he was "delighted that all of this is being achieved at no extra cost". The union branded the deals "highly inappropriate" after Sainsbury's was named as the preferred bidder for a contract with two London hospitals. But community pharmacy representatives defended the sector's ability to provide the services. In a C+D poll, 61 per cent of respondents agreed that outpatient dispensing services run by community pharmacy companies could benefit patients. |
